QOTD - Maureen Dowd

Every once and a while, someone with absolutely no clue about Philip K Dick will make reference to him in an effort to sound hip and connected. Here's Maureen Dowd's turn in today's New York Times:

"Even before a Nigerian with Al Qaeda links tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines jet headed to Detroit, travelers could see we had made no progress toward a technologically wondrous Philip K. Dick universe."

I guess we can safely conclude Maureen is not a reader of this blog.

I guess all the news was not fit to print. So much for fact checkers. To quote Bugs Bunny, "What a maroon!"

ROFL. Maureen Dowd wouldn't want a PKD'ian reality like the one we're stuck in. Let alone the "wondrous" horrorshow dystopias to come. TDH Irony ftw.

Another person that thinks PKD is what Hollywood does to his stories.

She got in a Total Recall reference too. I've few clues what to make of the article as a whole. I'm apparently a clueless sort of guy or gal anyway. (Checks underwear and finds clue. Lucky Geuss.)

Everybody have progress toward a technologically wonderous Philip K. Dick universe. Or a Happy New Year instead if that sounds more appealing! Or a Happy Old Year for those in the Hobarth Field! Or potentially both for those in a "Your Appointment Will Be Yesterday" closed loop!!

Might be nice for some of us to drop by Beloved Stranger and wish a Happy New Year to Paul Williams, Cindy Lee Berryhill and their son, Alexander. Those of us who've known any of them at some time, anyway. Kind of a judgement call, all things considered.

Dowd works very hard to be hip/current/slangy and sometimes you can see the strain. An editor, at the very least, should have caught this -- lame!
