On The Road

Erik Davis and I are planning to leave at the crack of noon or so, driving straight east towards the PKD Fest in Black Hawk, Colorado; we hope to make it close to the Nevada/Utah border by Wednesday night. I will try to keep you apprised of any exciting developments. If you need an immediate update on our progress, simply imagine a gnostic version of Thelma & Louise...

In the meantime, pleased to enjoy this picture of Dr Wilder Penfield (right) with his niece (my grandmother) and my grandfather:

godspeed y'all. now that I've gotten yet another extension on my thesis I'm definitely kicking myself for not going.

Are you related to Huston Smith in any way? I have a dim idea Wilder Penfield was an in-law of his or something of the sort. Perhaps confusing him with someone else though I am certain Penfield's work and writings were of interest to Huston Smith.

Wow, I just want to say what a wonderful speaker our dear David is! Animated, lively (like a Dick novel) and so knowledgeable! Everyone at the Phil Fest loved him. As he will soon blog, it was a small, but fabulous group of Dickheads-- the Penultimate Dickheads, you might say ;) We had a blast. Sam Umland, Erik Davis, Patrick Clark, John Fairchild and of course, our blogger extraordinaire (DG), all gave great talks. Another major shout out to David Hyde, aka Lord Running Clam, for his tireless effort to make it a great festival. Watch next for the online auction of items we all donated to raise funds for Paul Williams' ongoing care. And, keep an eye on my site AKSbook for updates on the release of my novel: A Kindred Spirit. meanwhile, FDO Forever!!!

The learned Mr. Davis is probably still on a wildass journey of discovery, but if the also learned Mr. Gill did not suddenly get lost in exigetical material, I know that he made it onto his plane back to the coast.

Is that THE FrankH ;) the holy grail item just arrived... So SOON! and yes, it's a 1st Edition of the sacred original PKD Pictorial Bibliography (actually 1981 Underwood/Miller) in pristine condition! I can walk around with it all day now. I'm missing several emails, including FH. You know how to find me!
